The renowned Danish functionalist architect Vilhelm Lauritzen designed the VL 45 Radiohus pendant in the late 1930s as part of his comprehensive artwork, Radiohuset (The Radio House), headquarters of the Danish Broadcasting Corporation, which opened just after the end of World War II in 1945. Lauritzen designed the pendant and all the other lamps for Radiohuset in collaboration with Louis Poulsen. The pendant was initially called the office lamp, featuring a three-layered, glossy, blown-glass shade with untreated brass details. The design retains its excellent lighting performance and understated luxury, aligning well with current contemporary interior design trends, and is available in beautiful variations of the original opal white in pale pink, pale yellow, and amber.
