The Above pendant light, designed by Danish designer Mads Odgård, embodies a distinctly minimalist approach to lighting design. The designer himself is a true minimalist, creating clean and simple designs where functionality is valued as much as form and quality. “I’ve designed a lamp that embodies my philosophy: how far can you push the boundaries to achieve a truly simple design? I prefer to subtract rather than add, and I always strive to make things as simple as possible,” says Mads Odgård. The silhouette of this ceiling light features a graphic triangle that casts a soft, downward-directed light. The arched opening at the top, hence the name “Above,” reveals the cable and creates a subtle, ambient glow.
